William Arthur Lewis opened the shop in Wyndham Arcade in 1870. Around 1900 he bought a large stuffed bear, named him Bruno, and put him by the door — where he has been ever since, and where he gave the shop the name everybody in Cardiff uses.
It remains a working tobacconist: Cuban cigars, pipe tobacco, and the arcade’s original Victorian shopfront.
